...check the rubber bits on the outside of the car. If those are in good shape, then the car was probably in a decent environment. If the rubber is dry and brittle, you can probably imagine the rubber parts under the hood. The paint should be excellent if cared for right. Look for the typical things like signs of accidents. Obviously run a Carfax. I'd have a pro inspect it (always good to throw a car on a lift if possible before purchasing). Obviously you want to make sure a recent timing belt was done. And if not, you'll want to have it done. These are just some things off the top of my head.
